Learn how and why and what to do about it

This class is designed to teach 12 of the most common repetitive strain injuries that affect the upper extremities. We will discuss the varying causes, symptoms, treatments and preventative measures. I incorporate myo-fascial release, trigger point, deep tissue, PNF and general massage techniques into the class to help create the most effective treatments. The conditions discussed include: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Rotator Cuff Injuries, Frozen Shoulder, Radial Tunnel Syndrome, Cubital Tunnel Syndrome, Medial and Lateral Epicondylitis. Guyon’s Canal, DeQuervain’s Tenosynovitis, Trigger Finger and Dupuytren’s Contracture. 

This class focuses heavily on the ability to comprehend the various conditions our clients may present. There is a solid scientific background to this class. The goal of the class is to give us as massage therapists the necessary knowledge to address these conditions as they arise so that we may prevent them from getting worse. We will learn what we can do, how to do it, and when we need to refer out to more qualified healthcare professionals. We will also learn how to prevent these injuries in ourselves so we may continue as long as possible in this great career of massage therapy.
